Determination of Optimal Diffusion Coefficients in Lake Zirahuén through a Local Inverse Problem

In this study, optimal diffusion coefficients for Lake Zirahuén, Mexico, were found under particular conditions based on images taken with a drone of dye release experiment. First, the patch concentration was discretized using image processing tools, and it then approximated by an ellipse, finding major minor axes. The inverse problem implemented comparing these observational data obtained numerically from 2D advection–diffusion equation, varying tensor. When tensor isotropic, values K11=K22?0.003 m2/s found; when nonequal considered, that K11?0.005 K22?0.002 m2/s, cross-term K12 influenced results orientation ellipse. It is important to mention that, simple technique, parameter estimation had consequences great importance as value coefficient bounded significantly site study.
